Greenends Holiday Cottages

Greenends sits in what was once the wealthiest lead mining centre in Europe, the area is richly endowed with the historic remains of the once thriving industries which populated the area. Numerous mysterious humps, mine shafts and stone chimneys bear witness to the legacy of this industrial past. Evidence of Roman times are  here to be explored with the local Epiacum Roman Fortress site just over the hill.

Greenends itself appears to have a checkered past ! In the 19th Century it was reported to be a country estate with the main house used as a hunting lodge for the Walton family and more recently a working farm.  Out buildings have since been converted to high quality self catering cottages and Greenends, still a small gated estate, is currently owned and managed by Steve and Sandra Mackenzie. The self contained cottages offer a unique blend of the peace and tranquility of the Northern Pennines, stunning views and resident but 'invisible' caretakers.

The cottages are superbly situated, not only for the breathtaking views they command of the Nent Valley and the Northern Pennines but also ideally placed to explore the North Pennines area as well as further afield with the Lake District, Durham City, Hadrian's Wall, the Eden Valley and the Yorkshire Dales all within easy driving distance.
