Alston Moor Golf Club is undoubtedly the highest golf course in England and possibly the United Kingdom. At 1476' asl and situated 15 miles south of the Roman Wall and located within an AONB, it offers spectacular views of the North Pennines.

The Hermitage, is situated 2 miles south of Alston on the B6277 and comprises 132 acres of parkland, high meadow and pasture land.
